Another milestone in the application of sustainable hydrogen technologies:
REJOOL provides the compression technology for an innovative, container-based hydrogen system that will soon be deployed in Ghana. This project demonstrates how renewable energy can be reliably and emission-free utilized even in regions with unstable power infrastructure.
The so-called hydrogen battery was developed and implemented by the system integrator Ostermeier H2ydrogen Solutions (OHS). In collaboration with other technology partners, a compact, modular solution was created that is fully integrated into a standard 20-foot shipping container – without any structural modifications to the outer shell. This preserves the container’s shipping certification while providing maximum functionality inside.
A key design feature is the innovative fold-out system, which allows most of the components to be deployed and installed on-site quickly and easily. This enables efficient commissioning and maintenance after transport – a decisive advantage for deployment under diverse conditions worldwide.
The complete system combines leading technologies:
- Electrolysis modules from Enapter for green hydrogen production,
- a fuel cell from Intelligent Energy for reconversion to electricity,
- storage bundles from Vitkovice Cylinders for safe H₂ storage,
- and the PIONYR compressor from REJOOL, which provides efficient, oil-free hydrogen compression.
The REJOOL PIONYR compressor is a core component of the system. Its compact design, high reliability, and low-maintenance operation ensure safe storage of the produced hydrogen at high pressure, providing a stable energy buffer between production and consumption.
The entire project is coordinated and supervised by OHS in close collaboration with Green Power Brains. The container is already on its way to Ghana, where it will play an important role in achieving local energy independence.
